Alan Turing, LGBTQ+ Scientists, and the Future of Deep Tech
The genius that shaped modern computing came from a man persecuted for his identity. We honor Turing's legacy by building the inclusive future he never got to see.

Alan Turing, the father of computer science and artificial intelligence, solved some of history's most complex mathematical and engineering problems. His work at Bletchley Park during World War II laid the foundation for modern computing. Yet he was prosecuted for his homosexuality and died by suicide in 1954 at age 41.
Turing's tragedy was not inevitable. It was the consequence of a world that could not see past his identity to recognize his genius. Today, as we build the next generation of deep tech—semiconductors, robotics, advanced materials, AI—we have a chance to do better.
The LGBTQ+ community has always been at the forefront of scientific innovation. From Katherine Johnson's mathematics that launched NASA's space program, to countless unnamed researchers whose contributions were buried or attributed to others, queer scientists have shaped the world. Many continue to do so in silence, hiding who they are to pursue their passion for science.
At Adviti, we believe that diversity of identity fuels diversity of thought. The most innovative solutions come from teams where every voice—including LGBTQ+ voices—feels safe to contribute fully. We are actively recruiting and supporting LGBTQ+ talent across deep tech, advanced materials, and Industry 4.0.
To every LGBTQ+ scientist and engineer: your identity is not a barrier to your brilliance. It is part of what makes you brilliant. The future of technology needs you—not in spite of who you are, but because of who you are. We are here to support your career, your vision, and your full self.
To allies: the commitment is simple but profound. Create spaces where LGBTQ+ talent can thrive. Hire them. Promote them. Celebrate them. Fight for them. The next Alan Turing is likely already in your industry. The question is: will we let them flourish, or will we repeat history?
Science needs you. And we respect you completely.
